Cape Perpetua Mushroom Presentation & BioBlitz

October 19, 2019 | 11:00 am - 2:00 pm PDT

Free

In partnership with the Yachats Area Chamber of Commerce’s Village Mushroom Fest, please join us in exploring Cape Perpetua’s beautiful forest lands while we catalogue the various mushroom species of the region. Participants will accompany Anna Moore, an amateur mycologist and photographer, who will share her knowledge from over 30 years of foraging and species identification.

Saturday, October 19 (11:00am-2:00pm) | Cape Perpetua Visitor Center

11:00am – Presentation
Anna’s presentation will include a slide show of the fantastic habitat of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and she will emphasize the diversity of fungi found in the dunes and forests from Reedsport to Cape Perpetua.

12:00pm-2:00pm BioBlitz / Group Walk
Using the iNaturalist app, you will record the many species of mushrooms within the Cape Perpetua area. BioBlitz participants will meet at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center before embarking on a guided hike. This walk will take guests up into the old growth forest along the Cape Perpetua trail network; expect at least a mile of up hill travel.

RSVP required for BioBlitz as group size is limited to enhance participant experience: capeperpetuacommunications@gmail.com

This program is FREE. Bring your waterproof shoes, raincoat, binoculars, water and snacks.
