World Migratory Bird Day Celebration

May 14

Get Outside and See Birds!

Come bird watch with us as we celebrate World Migratory Bird Day and work to identify migratory bird species in nearshore and forest habitats within the Cape Perpetua region. Your participation will help in our efforts to catalogue and track the variety of migratory birds along Oregon’s coastal landscape. Sightings can be uploaded to the iNaturalist app to help record observations in Oregon and worldwide! We encourage all participants to upload their sightings on iNaturalist. We recommend downloading the app before you head out just in case you do not have good signal at your site. Click here for a training video on how to use iNaturalist.

May 14th

Join representatives of the Cape Perpetua Collaborative, Friends of Otter Rock, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Heceta Head Lighthouse, US Forest Service, and Portland Audubon along the coast at 11am. Scopes and representatives will be available at the Cape Perpetua visitors center, Oregon Coast Aquarium (must pay admission), and Heceta Head Lighthouse.

Bird on your own! Check out popular birding sites such as Devil’s punchbowl, Smelt Sands, Beaver Creek, and other coastal sites. Check out this birding guide for some ideas and inspiration on where to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day.
